Hard Corps – Shannon
One of our Hard Corps survivors – Shannon Rowley
Shannon came to us a little over a year ago after having already starting to make significant changes to her health and body! There was NO DOUBT when meeting Shannon she was a woman on mission and NOTHING was going to stop her from meeting her goals. Shannon always quietly worked hard in class from her very first day here but, through Hard Corps, something changed. She became more outgoing and started not to just be a hard hitting quiet class participant but also a leader. She is now one of the people others try to keep up with in class! We have watched Shannon form some great strong friendships here at Blue Wave and really inspire those around her as she shares her fitness journey with others. And, recently, we have invited Shannon to join our ranks as a fitness class instructor so she can share her sparkling personality with the Blue Wave gang in a new leadership role. Thank you Shannon for being part of Blue Wave, sharing your passion of fitness, your personal growth and becoming a leader at Blue Wave!
We asked Shannon to Share with us some of her thoughts about Hard Corps, and Blue Wave:
”At first I was very nervous about the challenge; I am typically not a person who likes to post about myself on social media. But after talking to Tammy and Dave, they reassured me it would be great and that it would be no big deal to my Facebook friends. But in fact it was a big deal, in a good way. I got super positive feedback from all of my friends and family. Even from people I haven’t seen in a very long time. I motivated my sister and a few friends to start their own fitness journey. Putting myself out there with all my accomplishments at first felt like I was showing off, but in fact it highlighted my personal fitness journey and all I’ve been through up to this point.
The best part of the whole experience was becoming friends with all my new Blue Wave family. I met people who are outside my fitness classes and realized Blue Wave is so much more than just a martial Arts studio or a fitness facility. It’s a family that cares about your success.
This inspired me so much that I started working at Blue Wave in the middle of the hard corps challenge. It made me go outside my comfort zone and do things that I would have never done had I not been challenged to do so! I never thought in a million years I could do 50 push-ups in a row, but with the support and some special ladies I did it. I also managed to lose a couple inches in the process. Blue wave has become a second home to me and couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.”
