Medicine Ball Burpee Ball Slam
Just in case you were wondering…here is how you do a medicine ball burpee ball slam. For many this is a Fitness Favorite! The burpee by itself is a lot of fun but adding the medicine ball to lift overhead and slam down hard is like icing on the cake. We did this in Cross Training just a couple of days ago. This is also a regular feature in Boot Camp.
First, raise your medicine ball veeeeeery high overhead. This is an excellent way to stretch out sore abdominal muscles by the way.
Next, slam that ball on the ground as hard as you can. Maybe you can even get it to bounce a little bit with your mega extreme force. Caution: Don’t use a bouncy-type ball for this.
Then you place your hands on the ground next to your ball while also shooting your feet back into a push-up position. Here is where the burpee comes into play. If you are doing this outdoors make sure you watch out for doggie-doo!
Go ahead and do a push-up at this point. You might as well touch your chest on the medicine ball. Please please please don’t do the sissy style push-ups with your knees on the ground. That wouldn’t be a REAL medicine ball burpee!
Finally you bring your feet back underneath you and stand up with your medicine ball returning to the overhead position.
A quickly done set is quite rousing for the metabolism. Follow up that set with a dash around the block for fun. And, you might as well do a couple more sets with some running spaced between. That next feeling you notice is the “Burpee” feeling. Have fun!
