I first tried a Tae Kwon Do class at Blue Wave my freshman year of high school, and I have been hooked ever since. My junior year Master Blevins asked if I would like to work for him and I couldn’t be more excited to become a bigger part of Blue Wave, working and training at my favorite place. I have now earned my black belt, I am the instructor of the Karate Kubs Pre School Program, and more recently I have become a fitness instructor here as well.

I have no idea where I would be today without the influence Blue Wave has had on me. Before, I wasn’t active or fit, and I never found a sport or activity I loved or felt I belonged. At first it was just Tae Kwon Do, then I got involved in kickboxing, and over the last couple years I have started regularly attending all our classes as well as joining a Personal Training group. I am in the best shape of my life and always striving to improve. While I love our Martial Arts and Fitness classes, my favorite thing about Blue Wave is the friends I have made. It is one big family here, from the staff, to the fitness and TKD clients. It’s amazing to see the bonds created here, and to be surrounded by such positive energy. I am motivated by so many people here who inspire me every day.

Outside of Blue Wave, I enjoy spending time in nature camping, hiking, or just being outdoors. I also have a love for art, music, coffee and cats. The most important thing in my life is probably my Tae Kwon Do training. It has become an integral part of my daily life. Not only do I enjoy the art, but the time I get to spend with my family as my parents, brother, and cousin all train with me.

In 2012 I had been a video editor for a local hospital for over 10 years and decided I wanted to stay home with my 2 children and try to focus on a healthier lifestyle. After a 50 pound weight loss, I hit a plateau. That’s where Blue wave came in.

I began my fitness journey at Blue Wave in 2013. After about 8 months of fitness classes, I lost another 50 pounds and transformed my body. I was so inspired by the classes and the people that I decided to change my career path completely. I received my personal training certification from AFAA in 2014 and shortly thereafter started leading classes at Blue wave.

I decided in 2015 that I wanted to be even more involved with Blue Wave and became a part of the office staff. When I am not leading or participating in classes at blue wave I am carting around my children to sporting activities, traveling with my family or volunteering at my children’s school.

I am so excited to be a part of the blue wave staff, everyone here is about helping, motivating and achieving goals. It is such a positive experience being able to love what you do and the people you do it with. I have found my true passion. I am forever changed by this place.

I began training under Master Blevins and Grand Master Chung in 1990. I earned my first degree black belt in 1995, my second degree in 1999, and founded St. Joseph Tae Kwon Do in May of 2000. I was a soccer coach for 12 years, and I am the reigning champion of Blue Wave Ultimate Frisbee.

I believe fitness and running is a very important part of keeping your mind and body sharp as you age. I have run many half marathons, and 1 full marathon.
My wife Diane and I have 2 children, Ryan and Liz, and two grandkids – Peyton and Ellie- and another on the way.

I instruct the Wednesday 5:30 am Boot Camp, and most other mornings I participate in the Boot Camp class.

I first signed up for Tae Kwon Do in 2013 and I instantly fell in love with it. I have always been active, but I could never find the right sport that interested me. From the moment I started, I poured my heart and soul into training. Not only had this been the perfect activity for me, but it was also the perfect family. At Blue Wave there is no one I don’t know. I was a shy and awkward kid until I began Tae Kwon Do. Not only did it help me come out of my bubble, but it also gave me motivation to chase my dreams in life. I became more active in school and became a more open and friendly person overall.

When Master Blevins asked me to work for him I could not be more excited. Working at Blue Wave hardly feels like a job at all since I get to help out and spend more time at the place I love. Outside of Blue Wave I am a Sophomore at Timberland High School. My other passions in life are art and music. I am in the Timberland High School Marching Band and am the Section Leader of the Saxophones. When I am at home I love to relax by listening to music, watching movies, reading, or painting and drawing. I also absolutely love adventure and traveling.

Blue Wave has been a part of my life since the day I was born! My Dad -Master Blevins- introduced me to Tae Kwon Do at a very young age, and it has continued to influence me to this day. I received my black belt in April of 2012, and as of this coming fall I will have been a student for over 13 years! Training at Blue Wave with all my family and close friends was special on its own, but when I was offered my first job here in the Summer of 2016, the experience took on a whole new meaning.
Outside of work I have many hobbies, such as painting, drawing, singing, writing stories, playing with my many pets, and exploring the great outdoors. I love volunteering for community service activities, I’m a certified tutor at my high school, I participate in many theater productions, and I absolutely love to dance! At Blue Wave you’ll see me doing many of the housekeeping duties and making sure the training space stays lemony-fresh! It’s a real pleasure to get to work alongside some of the kindest, most dedicated people I have ever known, and I consider myself extremely lucky to have such an amazingly unique first job!

My journey started in 2008 when I first joined Tae Kwon Do at the Josephville Branch School. I trained under John Mee until receiving my black belt in 2013. Throughout that time I made many memories and friendships at Blue Wave through Tournaments, events, and training. The energetic and fun environment of Blue Wave always caught my attention. Ever since I was younger I always thought it would be the most amazing job to work at Blue Wave! Now, years later, I happily get the privilege of working here with my friends, and all the wonderful people that come through our doors. I now continue to train at both the Josephville Branch School and Blue Wave.

In addition to Tae Kwon Do, I also enjoy doing Triathlons, canoeing, sailing, swimming, hiking, running, biking, and basically anything where I’m outdoors and moving! When I’m not doing that, I love spending time with my family and friends and traveling. I’m now a senior in high school and excited to see what the future brings!

From the first moment I walked through the door to Blue Wave Martial Arts and Fitness in 2014 I knew I would love it. From the instructors to the staff, everyone was so kind and friendly, they all helped me to come out of my shell. And, the more I did the more Blue Wave became my family. After a few years of training I earned my black belt in 2017. Blue Wave has also been great for me not just the martial arts, but also the fitness classes. Because Of the kind of person I am I love to stay active so swimming, biking, canoeing, hiking, jogging are all activities I enjoy. Obviously, I can’t stay still very long. I just finished my freshman year of high school and plan on going to college at College of the Ozarks. But we will see what the future holds.

I began taking fitness classes at Blue Wave at the beginning of 2016. It was nothing like I have ever done before. Over the course of 6 months working out here, I lost 20 pounds and was in the best shape of my life. I have always liked to workout but never felt comfortable, Blue Wave was the only place I have ever really felt comfortable going to. The environment is so welcoming and friendly, it made me excited for each and every workout I participated in. I recently graduated from Liberty High School where I was on the swim team. This fall I am going to attend St. Charles Community College where I plan on majoring in physical therapy. I am ready to jump in to everything Blue Wave has to offer and excited to see what the future brings
